i’ve postet this already a while ago, but i can’t get enough of the composition of this short flick by wes anderson. the color correction, the camera movement on the dolly, schwartzman and portman…well…you might want to watch it again as well.

Can’t wait for christmas to see this moving coming out. Brad Pitt in another great role, starring as Benjamin Button, a man whose life is getting younger instead of older. David Fincher spanned a story throughout a person’s character and it looks like this is about to become some visual mashup of Burton-Youthwithoutyouth-Lemmony Snicket.

Update 2: I got ahold of an early draft of the movie and can only say it’s a must read if you are into movies. Screenplay by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, etc.) based upon the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Oh yeah! It’s been out there since a couple of days and I was waiting 11 years for this to come to my eyes. After being in Universal Studios, MGM, etc. as a small kid several times I am still in love with great and cheesy Hollywood “Classics” from the late 80s and 90s. One of them is definitely the Indiana Jones trilogy. Now my childhood fantasies are alive again.

I am indulding this over and over again. Apparently they stayed away (thank god) from any hyper-modern hollywoodesque CGIs and kept it the old way. That’s what Indy deserves!

Since I am very interested in Marine Mammals, especially in Whales I was so happy to see this is about to come out. Too bad the IMAX cinema closed in Vienna already due to a lack of Visitors. However, I’ll try to see this amazing piece of motion picture as soon as possible. And I highyl recommend the Trailer:

If you are in the US on the upcoming Tuesday then you certainly shouldn’t miss the Shrek Christmas Special The Halls.

I’ve already seen it (and if you google enough you also might have the chance to do so) and since visiting Dreamworks Studios privately I somehow feel attached to the Oger. The 30 Minute almost seems like a Featurette of the upcoming Shrek 4; There’s an hilarious Guest cast including the like of Mike Meyers and others, besides, this turns out to be a little mashup of another Christmas favorite of mine: How the Grinch stole Christmas.

Anyways, I couldn’t resist stopping the movie to play right when the Credits showed up and my friend Ryan really showed up. Then I felt happy. I was happy for him and would have wanted to meet up with the guys over there as soon as possible. This time with Isabel, who spent more than a year in Cali.

Last, It made me think a little bit about why it’s called “The Halls”?! After seeing the entire piece I am pretty sure it’s supposed to be a subliminal Hint to Edvard Grieg’s “In the Hall of mountain King” – a gorgeous peace of classical music.

julian schnabel führt regie bei “der schmetterling und die taucherglocke”

edit: damit schwinden zusehends meine filmischen pläne: der vorleser (bernhard schlink) & der baader-meinhoff-komplex (stefan aust) wurden von bernd eichinger optioniert und was mit dem “parfume” geschehen ist wissen wir ja alle. ich hoffe immer noch auf paulus hochgatterer‘s “eine kurze geschichte vom fliegenfischen” 

als nicht us-bürger gibt es leider nur eine minderheit an möglichkeiten um an den neuen wes anderson kurzfilm “hotel chevalier” zu kommen. das kurze meisterstück fungiert als prequel zum kommenden feature film the darjeeling limited.

wie zu erahnen spielen sich etwa 16 minuten zweisamkeit in einem pariser hotel ab. für natalie stand ein bodydouble (web2.0gerüchteküche) parat, sie verweigerte ausserdem die laut script vorgesehende zigarette zu rauchen und ein zahnstocher musste demnach der tschick paroli bieten. ausserdem glänzt das so absichtlich mager distributierte video durch elegische eleganz und bietet mir die möglichkeit meine neue favorisierte videosharing plattforum vimeo als wordpress integration auszuprobieren. ich hoffe es gefällt.
