Le Web: Day II

So by now the le webconference here in Paris is over. They improved the heating, however they didn’t manage to get some proper food and drinks (more on that over here). Yet the keynote speeches today were great and personally I also got to know some nice com pan ies and the people behind them.

What happend since our last post:

Last night we hit the myspace.com party Palais Maillot. Funny thing – with myspace being so cool and a place for artists and musicians – you would expect the same from a myspace party. Somehow most people thought so as well but honestly I was a bit dissapointed. Anyhow, we definitly had the coolest shoes around Still fun, most people who didn’t leave around midnight ended up drunk and dancing. Lea even saw some guy (button down, balding, mid 60s) dancing the viennese style, by which i do not mean waltz. (krocha).

Today we listened to some of the speakers, eg Marissa Mayer from Google and Robert Scobles presenting the winning team from the start-up competition, which is Viewdle “a facial recognition powered digital media platform for easily indexing, searching & monetizing video assets”. Pretty cool stuff as already mentioned above.

I uploaded some low-quality pics from my iphone (when the wifi was working)flickr so head over and check them out. We are also pretty lucky with Simon, our french collegue and 123people Representative for France. He knows a s*** load of people and he’s a cool guy – a combination i do like. We gonna get some food with him later on and are heading then to the Techcrunch party for some quick sips of booze. In the meanwhile we are going to enjoy the mama shelter, and indulge its interior decoration.

open coffee club was good but i guess we arrived there a little late
the goat cheese lasagne at an already closed restaurant with une bierre was worth coming to paris
le web starts at 8am tomorrow……………….
mama shelter is the sexiest hotel i’ve seen so far and i am going to get an imac for the wall instead of a tv set
it’s cold out there
nothing seems close
google maps on iphones is worthless abroad (if you know a hack to enable flat data rates email me)

Mama Shelter & Le Web

Paris is well known for being probably the most romantic city on the planet. Yet the only thing I noticed was that it’s pricey when I was there last time a couple of years ago. Again, in a couple of weeks, when Lea and I will be at Le Web we looked for an affordable but chic modern Hotel with – obvoiusly – Wifi.

We really had to search the entire web, including tripwolf, until we found out about Mama Shelter via a Next Web’s Blog post. They offer reasonably priced rooms with gorgeous interior and to the geeks adjusted room settings: iMac instead of TV, high speed Wifi, etc.

Have a look at those rooms and mouthwatering interiors by yourself and start booking your stay now.

1st LeWeb Post…at least a try

First of all sorry for the bad audio and video quality. Since we moved into a new office over the weekend we couldn’t find a cool, but quiet place where we could shoot the intro video so we had to mover in our meeting room: Dark, bad acoustics and small. Right, it’s almost as it looks like in the video in real. Nevertheless, these circumstances didn’t stop lonesome LeWeb Cowboys Lea & Lukas from doing a first try-out video post for Le Web. Be sure to check out our upcoming stuff. Hopefully it’s not only going to be such a mess but with some helpful information on as well.

Le Web 08 preperations

Lea and I are currently in the midst of the preperations for our Le Web Coverage. As already mentioned earlier we will be blogging and vlogging live on mutliple blogs and multiple languages, and I am really proud that I’ve been accepted as an official LeWeb blogger. The blogs where we’ll be covering live are:

Yesterday we tried out our HD camera for the first time, but unfortunately our sound and ambient settings were, well, let’s call it suboptimal, but we will improve our skills in term of video blogging until LeWeb.

So we’ll upload our first video post by today I guess and I’ll be updating you when we figured out how to improve the sound of the videos…
